Dr. McLaughlin honored
On Tuesday, April 12, 2005, the University of Maryland School of Medicine honored Joseph McLaughlin, MD, class of 1956, a distinguished member of the School of Medicine Surgery faculty, with a portrait to be hung in the Cardiac Surgery Conference Room. One hundred guests gathered at the Center Club to honor "Dr. Mac's" more than 50 years of service to the University of Maryland both as a student and faculty member. Dr. McLaughlin and his wife Irene's service and commitment to the medical. community were celebrated by speakers, such as Bartley Griffith, MD, professor; Department of Surgery University of Maryland School of Medicine, chief, Division of Cardiac Surgery and director;" Heart and Lung Transplantation, University of Maryland Medical Center and Stephen Bartlett, MD, the Barbara Baur Dunlap professor and chair of Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical School and Chief of Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center and Frank Calia MD former vice dean, University of Maryland School of Medicine
