During the STS 43rd Annual Meeting, Peter K. Smith, MD and Fred H. Edwards,
MD, were selected to receive the Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Edwards is
Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Professor of Surgery at the University of
Florida Health Science Center in Jacksonville, Florida and Dr. Smith is the
Division Chief of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery at Duke University
Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
