Attend the 2009 Legislative Advocacy WorkshopRegister Now to Attend the 2009 Legislative Advocacy Workshop! The STS Legislative Advocacy Workshop is back—just as Congress is in the midst of debating health care reform legislation. Designed specifically to develop leaders who can take a stand on health care policy, the timing for the Advocacy Workshop is perfect. Plan now to attend and help shape the health care debate on behalf of cardiothoracic surgery! The 2009 Legislative Advocacy Workshop will be held Sept. 13-15 in Washington, DC. The anticipated congressional calendar calls for the culmination of health care reform legislation to be the major order of business when elected leaders return from their August recess. The Workshop will provide an extraordinary opportunity for STS members to participate in the history-making debate in Washington over health care reform legislation. The Workshop will kick off with a Sunday evening reception, followed by a day of discussions with congressional leaders and Obama administration policy makers. Following an in-depth update on critical issues, an advocacy training session will help participants convey the specialty’s message. Appointments will then be scheduled for Tuesday morning as attendees hit Capitol Hill to meet with congressmen and senators to discuss the challenges facing cardiothoracic surgeons.
