William M. Novick, MD, Honored as a Health Care Worker Who Makes a Difference in the Lives of Children

Cardiothoracic surgeon William M. Novick, MD, was one of only nine health care workers in the United States recently honored with an inaugural REAL Award. Dr. Novick received the award in the category of pediatric care for improving the care of children with heart defects.

The anterior cervicothoracic approach was used to remove a desmoid tumor of the thoracic outlet in a 70-year-old male. The chest wall was reconstructed with titanium bars and a polytetrafluoroethylene-patch. The clavicle was fixed using a titanium clip.
