Aortic Root Replacement for Endocarditis

This video contains a brief case presentation and a step-by-step guide for tackling the problem of aortic root endocarditis. The patient was treated with an aortic root debridement, pericardial patching of the resulting defect, and an aortic root replacement with a Freestyle Valve.

I mark the commissures to assist me in orienting the new prosthesis. Particularly when there is extensive endocarditis, it is easy to lose track of how the valve should sit.
