The Respect Philosophy in Mitral Valve Surgery

Neil Moat of the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, United Kingdom, discusses the respect philosophy in mitral valve surgery. Mr. Moat shares an overview of the resect versus respect debate and discusses the impact of technological advancements, such as the use of PTFE neochordae and annuloplasty rings, which have made the respect approach a viable option for mitral valve repair.
