Thoraflex Device as a One-Stage Solution in Chronic Type B Aortic Dissection

Tuesday, May 5, 2015

This video presents a case of chronic Type B aortic dissection, along with an aneurysmal arch and ascending aorta. The patient was treated using a Thoraflex device (frozen elephant trunk) as a "one-stage" solution, with subsequent complete remodeling of the aorta. A hybrid theater was used for this procedure. The surgeons utilized completion angiogram for quality control, along with endoscopic visualization of the device after deployment. Trans-esophageal echocardiographic assessment was used to ascertain the status of the false lumen before and after device insertion.
