EACTS is soliciting proposals for the successor of the present Information Officer, Paul Sergeant. The post of Information Officer, IO, will be open in conjunction with the meeting in Stockholm September 2006. The IO shall be appointed for a period of three years and may be re-appointed once.

Task description of EACTS Information Officer
- define the IT strategy of the organisation and supervise personally or closely its operational realisation, in existing or future EACTS projects. 
- interface within the organisation with the council (as member of the council), with different committees (ex officio), with the Windsor and Umea offices, finally the editor-in-chief and the editorial office.
- interface with the CTSNet Board of Directors (as member of the Board responsible for its strategy) and with the CTSNet editorial office and all its projects (including e-learning).
- interface with STS and AATS as privileged spokesman on IT matters, representing the European perspective.
- interface with all major and minor associations as privileged spokesman on IT matters representing EACTS and CTSNet.
- continue the EACTS IT philosophy, driven by strict optimisation of resources and mutual respect.
Profile of EACTS Information Officer
- needs to have an established professional career in cardio-thoracic surgery (in whatever domain) and be located in Europe.
- must be an established member of EACTS, with a proven interest in this association.
- needs to have reached in his institution, region or country a proven leadership position (PhD, Professor, Chairman or President).
- needs to have a proven administrative leadership experience in a large institution.
- must be willing to study on a continuous basis the evolution in IT and knowledge transfer, be willing to explore new software.
