The Socrates
Award is a monthly and annual award given by the Thoracic Surgery Residents
Association to an outstanding faculty member in cardiothoracic surgery in
recognition of his/her commitment to resident education and mentorship.
Every month, each cardiothoracic surgery resident in North America is eligible
to nominate a faculty member who has demonstrated a remarkable interest
in resident training, whether in or out of the operating room. From the
nominated faculty, the monthly winner will be selected and posted on the
TSRA Website and his/her name forwarded to the Thoracic Surgery Directors
Association. At the end of the year, the annual winner will be selected
and presented with the award at a national academic meeting. To nominate
a faculty member, simply send the
nominee's name, institution, and reasons for nomination to the TSRA.
The TSRA would like to encourage as many residents as possible to participate
in making nominations. This award serves to further motivate and demonstrate
our appreciation for the efforts of our faculty to provide excellent training
and mentorship. |
