BACKGROUND:

Thoracic surgeons perform over 100,000 open heart and general thoracic procedures each year in the United States. With the threat of heart and lung disease among this nation's emerging baby boomer population, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons uses this annual event to ensure that its members stay informed about the latest medical advances requiring technology, technique and outcomes management.
