Editor's Report
Over the last year, the "European Journal of Cardio-thoracic Surgery" (EJCTS) has continued to grow. The number of manuscript submissions has increased (see fig. 1), which in turn resulted in a lower rate of acceptance (see fig. 2). Some of the growth could be absorbed (fig. 3) by our new publication "Interactive Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery" (ICVTS), which is designed as a virtual conference. In contrast to the traditional paper based journals like the EJCTS, where a selection of accepted manuscripts is printed together in one issue, accepted manuscripts for ICVTS are immediately made available on the world-wide-web. During a four weeks period, ICVTS manuscripts are open for discussion and comments can be submitted. Finally, the manuscripts are printed together with the comments. Until now, 5 issues of ICVTS have been printed following this protocol, and more is in the pipeline awaiting your comments at www.ICVTS.org.
