Fontan Prize Winner 2004
The winner of the Fontan Prize 2004 will be presented at the 3rd EACTS/ESTS Joint meeting in Leipzig. Francis Fontan will be pleased to congratulate György Lang from Budapest, Hungary as the winner of this prestigious prize. György Lang will spend his prize winning year at the University Hospital in Vienna under the guidance of Walter Klepetko where he plans to gain experience in lung transplantation and focus on research in experimental protocol on ECMO post-lung transplant.
EACTS invites surgeons in postgraduate training in cardiac, cardio-thoracic or thoracic surgery to apply for the Fontan Prize next year.
The amount awarded is €30,000 and should cover the costs of one year's stay at a major European department or any other research facility. The activities during this year are left to the discretion of the Prize winner and the head of the visited department, but should primarily involve fields like research training, research activities, advanced clinical education and/or departmental management.
