Dr. Todd Demmy, Clinical Chair of the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Professor of Oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY, has put together an impressive Video Atlas of Thorascopic Lobectomy. The Video Atlas demonstrates the basic tools, concepts, and other technology that enable the VATS lobectomy procedure.

He pioneered the anterior approach for VATS lobectomy and has by far the largest experience in this technique. CTSNet Mourns Loss of Founder Editor

CTSNet grieves with the worldwide cardiothoracic surgery community the loss of Thomas B. Ferguson, MD, one of the true pillars of the specialty. Dr. Ferguson had an extraordinarily rich association with CTSNet, serving as its Founder Editor for 10 years. A memorial service is being held for him at St. Michael’s and St. George’s Episcopal Church in St. Louis, MO, at 4 p.m., Central, on Friday, May 31.

Repair of the insufficient bicuspid aortic valve is a good option for many patients. Durability is excellent, and late complications are low. Four patients with varying anatomy were repaired to illustrate operative decision-making. Surgical reconstruction now should be a primary consideration for this disorder.
