As a member of the cardiothoracic surgery community, you know the importance of networking with your peers, sharing ideas, and helping to improve health care quality around the globe. If you're not already a member of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), you can apply today and join one of the largest cardiothoracic surgical societies worldwide.

STS membership comes with a wide range of benefits, including subscriptions to The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, STS News, and personalized email communications. Additionally, you'll receive reduced registration rates at the STS Annual Meeting and many other educational events throughout the year (such as the upcoming Multidisciplinary Cardiovascular and Thoracic Critical Care Conference, October 4-6 in Washington, DC), lowered pricing on e-learning products such as these patient safety modules, and the potential for discounted participation fees in the STS National Database. You'll also have the opportunity to join leadership in developing and implementing programs to advance the interests of the specialty.

The STS Board of Directors votes on pending active and international membership applications three times per year (January, Spring, and Fall). The application deadlines for 2018 and the corresponding Board of Directors meetings are outlined in the chart below.

Associate, candidate, and precandidate members are admitted on a rolling basis, and dues are prorated throughout the year.
