Advanced Course of Reconstruction of the Aortic Valve and Root: A practical approach [1]
Repair of the aortic valve has become an attractive alternative to replacement due to the low incidence of valve-related complications and the associated high quality of life. In order, however, to achieve reproducible repair results it is important that the surgeon understands and applies the basic concepts that are specific for the reconstruction of the aortic valve.
Target audience:
- Surgeons, cardiologists and anaesthesiologists who wish to obtain a comprehensive overview
- Surgeons looking for a deeper insight into aortic valve repair
Course objectives:
- Learn the morphologic characteristics of normal and abnormal aortic valve form
- Learn the echocardiographic criteria of repairable aortic valves
- Understand the principle of aortic root repair and its important details
- Learn and understand the principles of cusp repair for different anatomic types
- Learn the current limitations of repairability
This course is a combination of didactic lectures, video presentations, “hands-on“ wetlab and live operations.
