Cardiovascular Surgery Research Associate (United States)

The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Utah is searching for a qualified individual to work in the Cardiovascular Surgery Research Laboratory. This NIH funded lab is focused on the physiologic, structural, and molecular processes involved with myocardial recovery, left ventricular hypertrophy, and heart failure. Candidates will be expected to have technical expertise in small animal surgery and management. In particular, skills will include rodent surgery (anesthesia, surgery, postoperative care), breeding/genotyping mice, and lab administration (IACUC, EHS). Importantly, this individual will lead a project with large animal heart surgery (sheep) and work closely with the Utah Artificial Heart Institute. Preference will also be given to those with specialized skills in hemodynamic monitoring (echocardiography and invasive pressures).

To be clear, this is NOT a clinical position. This is 100% research based. That said, opportunity exists, depending on committment and fit, to progress within the academic structure of the University of Utah.
