Overview
Basic science and clinical research are top priorities for The Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Research Laboratories at the University of Virginia. Our laboratory has enjoyed a rich history of publishing and receiving grant funding for research that addresses many of the clinical problems facing the cardiac, general thoracic, and vascular surgeons of today. Our laboratory places an emphasis on training research fellows in basic physiology, cell and molecular biology, and preparing them for careers in academic surgery. Trainees from our laboratory have entered successful academic careers not only in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, but also in other fields such as liver and kidney transplantation, pediatric surgery, trauma, and general surgery. Positions Open In The TCV Research Lab
Surgery Research Fellow - A full-time, NIH-funded research position is available. This is a 2-year position in our lab, or another lab of your choice, in which you will work alongside basic and clinical researchers in areas or lung transplant reperfusion injury, compensatory lung growth or other possible areas. This position is funded by our CardioThoracic Surgery Training Grant.
