Cardiac Surgical Arrest—An International Conversation, Part 2

This ongoing discussion of cardiac surgical resuscitation (CSR/CALS) management is a five-part series led by Jill Ley, Nurse Educator at Essentials of Cardiac Surgical Resuscitation, featuring a panel of international experts including Tara Bartley, Corporate Lead for Advanced Practice, University Hospitals Sussex; Cristina Ruiz Segria, Surgical Care Practitioner, Jame Cook University Hosptial; and John Whitlock, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Cardiac Surgery, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. At the conclusion of this bi-monthly recorded series, a live, one-hour webinar will be offered, inviting real-time discussion and questions from attendees worldwide.  

In Part 2 of this series, experts discuss managing bradyarrhythmias, the use of epicardial pacing wires, preferred methods for postoperative pacing, the role of chronotropes in the absence of functional wires, and considerations for alternative pacing methods. The discussion also covers hand positioning and the use of external cardiac compression devices if CPR is required.
