Dr. Mara Antonoff, president of Women in Thoracic Surgery (WTS) and Associate Professor and Program Director of Education at MD Anderson Cancer Center, spoke with Dr. Leah Backhus, vice president of WTS, cardiothoracic surgeon at Stanford Hospital, and Chief of Thoracic Surgery at the VA Palo Alto, about social events and networking opportunities at the WTS Annual Meeting.
They discussed a variety of networking opportunities available at the meeting, including the 5K fun run and the networking breakfast. Other noteworthy events included the silent auction, gala dinner, and industry roundtable. They also emphasized the importance of incorporating social events into these meetings and explored what motivates attendees to participate. Dr. Backhus also shared what she looks forward to in terms of networking opportunities at the meeting.
