ISMICS 2025 | Beating Heart Redo Mitral Valve Repair With Neochords

In May 2025, the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery brought together professionals in the field of cardiothoracic surgery to discuss and share knowledge on minimally invasive techniques. Watch for more ISMICS 2025 videos in the coming weeks.  

At the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery Annual Scientific Meeting 2025, Dr. Peyman Sardari Nia, a cardiothoracic surgeon at Maastricht University Medical Center, Netherlands, delivered a presentation titled “Beating Heart Redo Mitral Valve Repair With Neochords.”  

In his presentation, he provided a brief history of mitral valve repair and showcased an animated demonstration of the repair technique using neochords. Dr. Sardari Nia covered specific considerations related to neochords, outlined the procedural imaging steps, and detailed the surgical steps involved. He also presented a case study of an 82-year-old female patient with dyspnea.
