ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

In view of the recent events across Australia, and the growing COVID-19 situation, the inaugural Tri-Society Cardiac & Thoracic Symposium (3SCTS) will be postponed to 9 - 12 March 2022.

It is the view of the 3SCTS Organising Committee that if the Symposium is held in November 2021, it will be very vulnerable to border closures, lockdowns, and a general lack of confidence from participants to travel to Cairns. The over-arching aim of this meeting is to hold it in person to increase collaboration and collegiality amongst the three societies.

The preparation for the forthcoming Inaugural Tri-Society Cardiac & Thoracic Symposium (3SCTS) “Back to the Future: Lessons from the Past, Prospects for the Future” is in full swing and will be held at the Cairns Convention Centre, Queensland, Australia, from 9 to 12 March 2022.

The 3SCTS will be a combined scientific meeting of three societies - the Australian and New Zealand College of Perfusionists (ANZCP), the Australian and New Zealand Society of Cardiac & Thoracic Surgeons (ANZSCTS) and the Cardiac Thoracic Vascular and Perfusion Special Interest Group (CTVP SIG). In 2022, the Symposium will be held in conjunction with the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiothoracic Surgery (ISMICS) 2022 Workshop.

The 3SCTS 2022 will, for the first time, provide everyone involved in the management and treatment of cardiac and thoracic patients the opportunity to come together. 3SCTS 2022 will be an excellent forum for the exchange of views, shared experiences and the latest scientific knowledge; enriching collaboration between surgeons, anaesthetists, perfusionists, and industry as well as providing opportunities for networking and the building of relationships internationally.
