Lung Transplantation Hands-on Course HUPHM

Lung transplantation is the only curative therapy for many end stage respiratory patients. Our department of Thoracic Surgery has been offering this technique to our patients for more than 20 years, over 700 hundred procedures accumulated. This 3 days course is a unique oportunity to deepen in all aspects of lung transplantation and to perform lung extractions, implantations and exvivo evaluations of animal lung grafts in the experimental surgery laboratory. It is specially focused on surgeons, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists and transplant coordinators involved in pulmonary transplant units, not only those with previous experience but also to all those professionals who are in the process of starting a program of transplant. During their stay at our unit, participants will be able to attend every transplantation or related procedures that may raise in the hospital. At the end of the course the participants will have acquired the fundamental knowledge of lung transplantation and will have been able to carry out first-hand extractions, pulmonary implants and ex vivo evaluations of pig grafts.
