Nature of Work Experience:

1. Working as Consultant Thoracic Surgeon at the National (erstwhile LRS) Institute of T.B. & Allied Diseases, which is a 500-bedded tertiary referral center for T.B. and respiratory diseases. It is an autonomous institute under Government of India. Developed its thoracic surgery department in my tenure here. The department gets referrals from almost the whole of Northern India and adjoining countries. About 500 major thoracic surgical procedures are carried out every year. The cases usually include surgery for complications of pulmonary tuberculosis and Carcinoma lung in addition to other chest conditions.  The experience includes some of the most challenging lung resections. The spectrum of surgery includes cases of complications and sequel of pulmonary tuberculosis like drug failure, hemoptysis, Empyema or destroyed lungs or Bronchiectasis, carcinoma lung, interstitial lung disease, mediastinal or chest wall tumors, tracheal surgery, constrictive pericarditis or referrals for bronchoscopy, foreign body removal from airway, mediastinoscopy or Video-assisted Thoracic Surgery. The experience and expertise is somewhat unique as there is an extreme shortage of practitioners engaged in general thoracic surgery.
