Highlights from the STS Annual Meeting

Don’t forget: Today is the last day for those not attending the meeting to purchase STS Annual Meeting Online at 33% off post-meeting pricing!

STS 55th Annual Meeting attendees appreciated exciting talks this morning on the mitral and tricuspid valves, lung cancer, and pain management in cardiothoracic surgery, among other topics. Today’s plenary session featured the 2019 awards presentation and the C. Walton Lillehei Lecture by Eric Topol, MD, who discussed the convergence of artificial intelligence and health care. This afternoon, three how-to video sessions covered common surgeries in adult cardiac, general thoracic, and congenital heart surgery—showing attendees exactly how they can perform these procedures for optimal outcomes.

Whether you were with the Society in San Diego or couldn’t make this year’s Annual Meeting, you can peruse the Tuesday edition of the STS Meeting Bulletin, now available online. The official meeting newspaper covers highlights such as:

  • A recap of Keith S. Naunheim’s Presidential Address, given yesterday morning;
  • A preview of today’s Lillehei Lecture;
  • A feature on the Society’s 2019-2020 President Robert S.D. Higgins, MD, MSHA, who was elected last night by the STS membership;
  • The recipients of the Society’s Distinguished Service Award for 2019;
  • And much more!
