A 29-year-old male presented with nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. He had a recent history of a traumatic motorcycle accident one month prior. In the emergency room, he was found to have concerns for a left-sided diaphragmatic hernia. He was taken to the operating room for a diagnostic laparoscopy and was found to have a diaphragmatic hernia containing an incarcerated stomach. The hernia was successfully reduced, and the stomach was inspected. The stomach was noted to be necrotic, and a partial gastrectomy was performed. The hernia defect was repaired laparoscopically. The patient was discharged following an upper gastrointestinal (GI) test and tolerated the procedure well. He had no further symptoms at his outpatient follow-up.
