This course is part of the BASIC Collaboration courses that have been taught all over the world. It focuses on the management of patients in the Intensive Care Unit following cardiac surgery and caring for critically ill cardiac surgical patients. The course pays particular attention to haemodynamic assessment and optimisation, epicardial pacing, cardiac tamponade, cardiac arrest after cardiac surgery and mechanical circulatory support including intra-aortic balloon pumps, VA ECMO and temporary microaxial VAD support.
