
Join Us in Cape Town for the EACTS/STS/CSIA Cardio-Thoracic Conference, ‘In Africa for Africa’
The conference takes place from September 4–6, 2026 in Cape Town, bringing together leading regional and international clinicians, fellows, and registrars to explore contemporary, context-specific approaches to cardio-thoracic surgery and care across Africa.
The conference will explore a broad range of topics relevant to the advancement of cardio-thoracic care across the continent, including clinical approaches, surgical techniques, perioperative care, health system strengthening, and resource development.
Explore the Scientific Program
The scientific program will feature plenary sessions bringing together regional speakers and international leaders from organizations including EACTS, STS, CSIA, SCTSSA, ASCVTS, SCTS, and SBCCV.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in hands-on simulation sessions focused on practical surgical techniques, including:
• Modified Bentall procedure
• Rheumatic mitral valve repair
• Aortic root enlargement strategies
The program will also feature a team-based simulation series introducing key situational awareness and crisis management strategies through the novel Califia system from the University of the Free State in South Africa.
Advancing Cardio-Thoracic Care in Africa
Roundtable discussions with health management experts will examine resource disparities and health system strengthening, while industry panels will explore supply chain and sourcing solutions to support cardio-thoracic programs across the continent.
