Chest Wall Reconstruction Techniques

Friday, September 13, 2024

Gielow M, Gerrah R. Chest Wall Reconstruction Techniques. September 2024. doi:10.25373/ctsnet.27005518

After chest wall resection, large defects are created in the bony structure of the chest. To preserve the integrity of the chest wall, a reconstruction procedure is often required. Multiple techniques have been described, such as using soft or rigid patches, rib plates, implants and 3-dimensional print parts.

In this video, the authors demonstrate three techniques for chest wall reconstruction after resection. These methods involve using neoribs to reconstruct the chest wall while preserving native anatomy. The techniques are easily reproducible and applicable for any chest wall defect.
