CTSNet Editor-in-Chief Joel Dunning spoke with Dr. Anthony Zaki, a cardiac surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic, about his winning video, “Direct Aortic Impella 5.5 in Post-Cardiotomy Shock.” They discussed the specifics of the surgery, highlighting the advantages of the Impella 5.5 device compared to traditional mechanical circulatory support options, as well as the limitations of direct aortic approaches. Dr. Zaki also shared insights into his professional background, detailing his current work at the Cleveland Clinic, and offered his thoughts on the creation of this video.
