Filmed at the 2014 STS Annual Meeting, Virginia Litle, past President of the Women in Thoracic Surgery, leads a discussion on the growing role of women in the cardiothoracic surgery specialty. Yolonda Colson, Iva Smolens, Meena Nathan, and Nora Burgess share their thoughts on the increasing number of women in cardiothoracic surgery, career paths, and the importance of mentoring. The panelists also share strategies for achieving a work-life balance and offer advice for women interested in pursuing careers in cardiothoracic surgery.

Thank you so much , this was really supportive . I've always wanted to be a cardiac surgeon and I am applying now for a residency program but they keep saying: female can't do it or they will stop at some point and this really disappointed me and I started to think about changing the specialty even though o know i am not gonna be happy doing something else. Thank you doctors
