A Team Approach to Cardiac Arrests After Cardiac Surgery

Thursday, August 6, 2015

Filmed at the 2015 STS Annual Meeting in San Diego, California, a panel of experts discusses how the heart team should respond to cardiac arrests that occur after cardiac surgery. Jill Ley moderates the discussion with Joel Dunning, John Whitlock, and David Lizotte. The panel shares their experiences with cardiac surgery advanced life support (CALS), how they have implemented it at their respective institutions, and how others can participate in the CALS course. The panel stresses the importance of team training to facilitate nurses, physician assistants, and surgeons working together effectively in the event of a cardiac arrest.
