Creighton Bolter Wright, M.D. , MBA

Creighton B. Wright Sr. continues to be a Professor at University of Cincinnati and U. Kentucky medical schools. He became Professor Emeritus of Health Sciences and was founding Medical Director of the Mount St. Joseph University Physician Assistant Training Program.
He served as Vice President of Medical Affairs of Mercy West Hospital from 2014 until May 30, 2022. He previously was President of Cardiac, Vascular and Thoracic Surgeons, a group that started many of the cardiovascular and thoracic services in Greater Cincinnati.
Dr. Wright joined the staffs of the Christ and the Jewish Hospitals in 1981 and served as Director of the Department of Surgery and Program Director for the General Surgery Residency at the Jewish Hospital from 1988-2002. He was elected to the Board of Trustees at the Jewish Hospital and served on the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff and of the Board. Dr. Wright also served as the Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services for multi-hospital Health Alliance of Cincinnati from 2000-2003. He was a Founder and still is Medical Director of the Cincinnati State Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound Program.
Dr Wright later served as a Founding member of the Board of UC Health, a multi-facility health system in Greater Cincinnati.
He is a native of Washington, DC and graduated from Western High School and was an Angier B. Duke Scholar at Duke University. He is an honor graduate, Alpha Omega Alpha from Duke University Medical School, 1965. He did his general and cardiovascular-thoracic surgical residencies and was American Cancer Society Fellow at the University of Virginia finishing in 1971. Dr. Wright attained his MBA in 1995 from Xavier University.
Colonel Wright was a member of the Departments of Surgery at The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, and Vascular Surgery at Walter Reed Army Medical Center on active duty during the Vietnam Conflict. Colonel Wright continued service in the US Army Reserve as Commander of the 73rd Combat Support Hospital and later the 256th General Hospital. He was Chief of Professional Services for the 803rd Medical Group at King Khalid Military City, S. A. during The Gulf War- “Desert Storm”. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Kuwait and Saudi Liberation Medals, and the Units under his professional guidance were awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation. Dr. Wright has previously received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with two (2) oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Medal (with bronze star) the Southwest Asia Service Medal with (2) service stars, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
Dr. Wright has been recognized as a scientist and educator with over 200 publications, including four books. He has received awards for excellence in teaching at The University of Virginia, Georgetown University, and Jewish Hospital. Dr. Wright has been recognized by The American Heart Association with The KAPLAN Visionary Physician Award, The AWARD of EXCELLENCE, and The DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT AWARD and the inaugural CREIGHTON B. WRIGHT MD LEADERSHIP AWARD.

Dr. Wright has received the FRANCIS SERVICE AWARD from the Friars Club, the FBI Director’s COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARD; The Academy of Medicine’s DANIEL DRAKE HUMANITARIAN AWARD, and recently The Ohio PA Association’s CHARLES L. HUDSON MD AWARD for exemplary service to the PA profession.
Becker’s Hospital Review named him a top 100 CMO/VPMA in 2016.
Dr. Wright is a member of the Sigma Chi HALL OF FAME. He is a Fellow or Member of many Professional societies and has been President of the Association for Academic Surgery, The William H. Muller Surgical Society, The Cincinnati Surgical Society, The Greater Cincinnati Vascular Society, The Academy of Medicine Foundation, the American Heart Association of Southwest Ohio and the AHA Great Rivers Affiliate Board.
Dr. Wright is in Who’s Who in America and several specialties -Who’s Who listings. Dr. Wright has served as Professor on the faculties of The George Washington University, The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, The University of Iowa, Mount St. Joseph University, and The University of Cincinnati & The University of Kentucky Colleges of Medicine.
