BACKGROUND
Bio: https://utswmed.org/doctors/takashi-eguchi/I am a thoracic surgeon with expertise in robotic surgery for thoracic malignancies. I completed my surgical residency and thoracic surgery fellowship at Shinshu University Hospital in Japan. From 2014 to 2018, I advanced my education in thoracic oncology research at Dr. Adusumilli’s Lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. In 2017, I received my ECFMG certificate, and in the 2018/2019 academic year, I completed the Advanced Thoracic Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the Thoracic Surgery Service, Department of Surgery, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.I have developed expertise in robotic complex lung segmentectomy for early-stage lung cancer and pulmonary metastasis. In 2025, I transitioned to UT Southwestern Medical Center, where I provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary oncology care with a focus on minimally invasive and function-preserving surgery for thoracic malignancies. In addition to patient care, I am passionate about advancing surgical education for young doctors and medical students. OTHER INTERESTS
RESEARCH
My translational research focuses on the biology and management of lung cancer, specifically investigating the clinicopathological and molecular characteristics of spread through air spaces (STAS). Additionally, I explore perioperative risk assessment and management strategies for patients undergoing thoracic surgery.
