How to Perform a Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Enlargement Procedure [1]

This video describes how to perform a left ventricular outflow tract enlargement in a pig model. A Hemashield velour Dacron graft was fashioned after making an incision into the annulus.
Dr. Gaudiani demonstrated how to open the annulus between the left and noncoronary cusps, then placed the patch into this space. The patch was clipped to the drape while forehand sutures were placed on either side of the patch. A double bite was taken on the Dacron graft to reduce bleeding. The final result showed an enlargement of at least 8 mm for the aortic root. The method for placing the valve sutures is also shown in the video.
