Background
Travis completed medical school and general surgery residency at the University of Kansas. He then went through fellowship at Northwestern University following which he became a member of the faculty. In 2015 he returned to the University of Kansas to begin the VAD program there and restart the heart transplant program.

Research
He is actively involved in multiple clinical research projects that mainly focus on VAD therapy and obtaining short length of stay while maintaining the highest standard of care.
