CTSNet Senior Editor Mara Antonoff spoke with Dr. Anna Olds, a cardiothoracic surgery resident at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, California, USA, about her presentation on patterns in family planning and major pregnancy complications for cardiothoracic surgeons. Dr. Olds discussed the results of the US survey she worked on indicating that female CT surgeons are less likely to have children and have fewer children than male CT surgeons. A separate survey found that women in CT surgery are also more likely to experience complications during pregnancy and birth.
