In this video, Dr. Vince Gaudiani demonstrates how to perform a simple chordal repair of a P2 prolapse. He began by cannulating the femoral vein, then performed an upper ministernotomy, and placed a right superior pulmonary vein vent along with aortic cannulation for antegrade cardioplegia. The roof of the left atrium was then opened and stay sutures were placed to optimize the view. All the annuloplasty sutures were placed before assessing the valve. During assessment of the valve, ruptured chords were found at P2. Therefore, the 16mm Onyx Chord-X system was used to place three sets of chords from the posteromedial papillary muscle to P2. After testing, a small leak at the commissure was closed with a 4.0 Dacron to achieve a perfect repair.
