This study evaluated the Autonomous Blood Drawing Optimization and Performance Testing (ADOPT) trial, which assessed the performance, safety, and patient experience of an autonomous robotic phlebotomy device (ARPD) utilizing multimodal imaging. The results demonstrated analytical equivalence to manual phlebotomy, a 94.5 percent first-stick success rate, and a low rate of mild adverse events (0.6 percent). The authors conclude that the ARPD is a safe and effective tool that may improve patient experience and address workforce challenges in phlebotomy.
