As a part of the 2023 joint international conference of the African Academy for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery and the African Association of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeons, Professor Salvatore Lentini discussed the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic heart disease in children. Rheumatic heart disease has been a prevalent issue for surgeons in low-and-middle-income countries for decades, and Prof. Lentini highlights strategies to address the problem.
Prof. Lentini is the chairman of the cardiac surgery unit at A.O.U. Policlinico G. Rodolico University Hospital in Catania, Italy.
