Dr. Johannes Bonatti, Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of Robotic Cardiac Surgery at the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, opened the session with “Robotic Heart Surgery—How It All Began.” He provided an overview of the development and evolution of totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass (TECAB), showcased footage of the world’s first TECAB procedure, and discussed the history of various robotic systems.
Following this, Dr. Stepan Cerny, Cardiac Surgeon and Director of Robotic Cardiac Surgery at Na Homolce Hospital in Prague, Czech Republic, presented” How to Establish a Robotic Cardiac Program Under Current Situation in Europe.” His talk covered medical devices regulation, current applications of robotic cardiac surgery, intracardiac robotics, structured training pathways, and revascularization.
Each presentation concluded with a panel Q&A.
