Friday, February 18, 2022

On February 17, 2022, CTSNet and ASAIO Journal hosted a live event on the future of durable implantable left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), featuring notable surgeons in the industry.

This webinar was hosted by Mark S. Slaughter, MD, editor-in-chief for the ASAIO Journal and professor and chair of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at the University of Louisville. We had two excellent moderators: moderator Adam Protos, MD, division chief of adult cardiac surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and digital moderator Ashok Kumar Coimbatore Jeyakumar, MD, assistant professor of cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Finally our nationally recognized panelists were Amy G Fiedler, MD of University of Wisconsin-Madison; Ashish S. Shah, MD of Vanderbilt University Medical Center; and Mani Ali Daneshmand, MD of Emory University.

This webinar covered:

  • New devices in the pipeline, as well as the effect of HVAD withdrawal from market;
  • Current indications and trends for LVAD as a bridge to transplantation; and
  • Right ventricular management and the current and future landscape of Heartmate "6" and the total artificial heart.

We hope you enjoy this recorded webinar brought to you by CTSNet and ASAIO Journal.
