At the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland Annual Meeting, Dr. Gebrine El Khoury, head of the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery Department at Cliniques Universitaires Saint-Luc, Belgium, delivered a presentation titled “Step-by-Step Technique of Valve-Spring Reimplantation in TAV and BAV.” He explored the steps of valve reimplantation in transcatheter aortic valve (TAV) procedures, which includes external root dissection, graft sizing, proximal suture line placement, graft trimming, commissure reimplantation, distal suture line establishment, coronary reimplantation, and distal anastomosis. Dr. El Khoury provided real-life examples of these steps during the presentation. He also examined aortic regurgitation classification and repair techniques, and root preparation in bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) cases.
