This is a 10-year review of 52 patients (mean age 6 years) with the rare diagnosis of a congenital mitral ring from the All India Institute of Medial Sciences. Mitral rings were associated with other cardiac anomalies in 51 of the cases. Two distinct morphologies of congenital mitral rings were identified: “distinct vestibular supra-mitral ring” (n=43) and “adherent intramitral ring” (n=9). The clinical presentation, diagnostic evaluation, and surgical strategies are described.
