Abdominal aortic cross-clamping is required in many visceral bypass operations, but results in increased risk of postoperative morbidity. Originally developed for coronary artery bypass grafting, the PAS-Port Proximal Anastomotic System (Cardica Inc., Redwood City, CA) creates sutureless proximal aortic anastomoses without the need for cross-clamping, although its use elsewhere in the body has not been reported. In this video, the authors use the PAS-Port Proximal Anastomotic System in the abdominal aorta procedure as a viable alternative to traditional anastomotic techniques.

Felicitations pour this presentation of this technique. It is seducing.
I have one remark and one question.
1. For this technique the aorta must be without calcifications
2. How do you explain an acute mesenteric ischemia? On the CT scan i see a large anastomosis between the coeliac trunk and the superior mesenteriac artery by the gastro-duodenal arcade and the inferior mesenteric artery is patent. In my experience i never observed an acute mesenteric ischemia in this cathegory of patient.
