In the most popular JANS article in October, researchers used the STS database to create a benchmark for the use of TAVR for aortic stenosis treatment in low-risk patients. The results revealed that the survival rate following SAVR remains excellent, and this data can be used in further trials comparing SAVR and TAVR.
6. Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Repair Surgery

The first robotic-assisted lung transplantation proved to be big news this month. The authors describe their perioperative planning, intraoperative details, and the course of the patient following the historic transplantation.
8. JANS: Ross Procedure Versus Repair for Treatment of a Unicuspid Aortic Valve in Adults
Another popular JANS article compared the Ross procedure with valve repair for unicuspid aortic valve patients. The results were comparable, but the authors found that freedom from reintervention at ten years was better in patients who had undergone the Ross procedure.
9. Hybrid Aortic Arch Treatment
