This talk features W. Randolph Chitwood, a retired cardiac surgeon and Founding Director of the East Carolina Heart Institute at East Carolina University, receiving the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award at the Endoscopic Cardiac Surgeons Club Meeting 2025.
In his presentation, he discussed less-invasive treatment of cardiovascular disease, ideal cardiac surgery operations, and the first Heartport (HP) mitral valve replacement (MVR). He also addressed learning 2D endoscopic surgery, outcomes of nonrobotic minimally invasive surgery, robotic platforms, robotic-assisted mitral valve repair, and the future advances using integrated artificial intelligence (AI).
The Endoscopic Cardiac Surgeons Club is dedicated to raising global awareness of the benefits of endoscopic cardiac surgery among patients, surgeons, and industry partners. Additional ECSC videos will be available in the coming weeks.
