Use of the Sonicision Cordless Energy Device for Lung Resection

This video demonstrates the first European use of a new cordless energy device, the Sonicision by Medtronic. It is a cordless, lightweight, ultrasonic device that can be used for a combination of sharp and blunt dissection. It can also be used to seal vessels, including small branches of the pulmonary artery. The operation performed in this case was a left VATS upper lobe trisegmentectomy for biopsy-proven squamous cell carcinoma.
