In patients with EF >= 50% who suffered an acute MI and underwent early angiography, the use of beta blockers had no impact on the endpoints of death or new infarction when compared to patients who did not receive beta blockers after the event.
This observation is interesting when viewed in the context of the ongoing discussion regarding the value of perioperative beta blocker therapy in CABG patients.
