Debate: Optimal Strategy for High Risk Coronary Patients – Conventional Bypass

  • August 16, 2018

By: Alan Bryan

Keywords:

  • Coronary Artery Mechanical Support & Transplant

Alan J. Bryan of the Bristol Heart Institute in the UK argues that on-pump coronary bypass surgery is as good an option as off-pump surgery for patients with high surgical risk. He focuses on the evidence available to compare on-pump and off-pump coronary bypass grafting and also comments on the application of hybrid robotic approaches.

This presentation was originally given during the SCTS Ionescu University program at the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland. This content is published with the permission of SCTS. Please click here for more information on SCTS educational programs.

  • Umberto Benedetto presents the argument for off-pump bypass here.
  • Robert Kiaii presents the argument for hybrid revascularization here.
