SCTS 2025 | Nano and Cell-Based Technologies for Thoracic Surgeons

In March 2025, the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland held its annual meeting, bringing together professionals in the field of cardiothoracic surgery to discuss the latest advancements in technologies and techniques. At the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Great Britain and Ireland Annual Meeting, Dr. Yolanda L. Colson, chief of the Division of Thoracic Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Hermes C. Grillo Professor of Surgery in the Field of Thoracic Surgery at Harvard Medical School, delivered a presentation on “Nano and Cell-Based Technologies for Thoracic Surgeons.” She addressed topics such as the benefits of nanotechnology, nanoscale delivery devices, and antibody drug conjugates (ADC). Dr. Colson also explored the pros and cons of lipid nanocarriers, CAR T-cell cancer immunotherapy, and T-cell receptor therapy.
